The introduction of shared parental leave from April 2015 will affect all employers. After the normal two weeks compulsory maternity leave, parents will be able to share up to 50 weeks leave (37 paid weeks) between them and will be able to take the leave at the same time or separately. They can even choose discontinuous periods of leave.
This new level of flexibility will inevitably throw up operational challenges.
This event will answer some of the common questions regarding shared parental leave, such as:
- How will it work in practice?
- Am I obliged to offer enhanced paternity pay?
- Do I have to accept the requested periods of leave?
- What are the new rights regarding fathers and partners attending antenatal appointments?
This round table workshop will cover all you need to know about parental leave, and if we have time, other issues regarding flexible working.
